Cats (Charlotte Area Transportation System)

Public transportation departments require the highest level of safety for their passengers. Accuserve is part of the vendor network that keeps the buses and and light rail running safetly and efficiently.

Accuserve, Inc. recently dispatched a two-member team to the Charlotte Area Transportation System (CATS) to perform on-site calibrations and minor repairs for a wide range of electrical and electronic test and measurement instruments. A total of 103 instruments - 17 different types from 17 different manufacturers - required attention, so the technicians prepared a careful schedule to ensure that downtime averaged no more than 4 hours per instrument.

Our technicians performed all calibrations traceable to NIST and made all necessary repairs following strict OEM and GIDEP procedures. Sixteen torque wrenches required in-lab calibration, so they were picked up from the site and delivered back the next day. Upon completion of all work, we issued certificates of calibration as searchable PDF files at the customer's request.

While onsite, our technicians took the opportunity to organize and label the equipment with an internal ID system. They also added all active equipment to our online calibration management system, Gage InSite, along with associated calibration records and schedules, to create a timetable for all future work.

Thanks to the talents of our technicians, this entire project took only three days to accomplish. To learn more about the project read below, or contact Accuserve today to learn more about our torque and instrument calibration services.

Time to Complete 3 business days (up to 2 technicians per day)
Turn-Around Time Onsite work was scheduled in batches
This coordination with customer ensured that equipment downtime averaged four hours per item
There were a total of 16 torque wrenches that could not be calibrated onsite.
  • Those torque wrenches were picked up and calibrated in our laboratory
  • Average turnaround time for torque wrenches was 1 business day

NOTE: We now have the capability of calibrating torque wrenches onsite.

Standards Met Calibrations traceable to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) and manufacturer's specifications
Additional Capabilities Worked with customer to organize and label equipment with internal ID system.
We took inventory of equipment while onsite and added all active equipment to our gage management system (Gage InSite). Now all customer equipment is organized (using customer assigned ID numbers) with associated calibration records and calibration schedules in our searchable and reportable Gage InSite software system.
Certificates of calibration provided in paperless/searchable PDF format as requested by customer (paper copies can be provided upon request).
