In the field of biomedical calibration, where patient safety is ultimately at stake and regulatory requirements abound, Accuserve, Inc. has a reputation for providing the highest level of accuracy, traceability, and reliability possible. Trusting us to provide the best quality service, a major health care provider contracted with us to calibrate and repair a wide variety of simulation, test, and measurement instruments - proper calibration and operation of these instruments was critical for assessing the accuracy and safety of the medical devices used for patient care.
Working at 3 different hospitals in the Raleigh-Durham area, 3 Accuserve technicians followed strict OEM and GIDEP procedures to perform calibration and repair on 245 separate instruments, from 40+ manufacturers, within a 7 day time period. Coordinating with the customer to batch schedule the work resulted in a downtime average of only 4 hours per instrument, ensuring that hospital staff had ready access to the tools they needed. A total of 5 instruments were sent to our facility for in-lab calibration and repair and returned within 4 business days. We issued certificates of calibration, traceable to NIST, in searchable PDF format to facilitate the compliance process.
While onsite, our technicians were able to update and organize the client's equipment inventory and enter the data into our calibration management system, Gage InSite. By organizing each instrument via an ID number, the system can track it through the calibration/repair process, maintain a detailed history, issue reminder notices, and the facilitate recordkeeping required for meeting regulatory requirements.
Accuserve's skilled technicians, their attention to detail, and meticulous recordkeeping made this project a success. To learn more about the project read below, or contact Accuserve today to learn more about our biomedical calibration services.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS FOR ON-SITE CALIBRATION FOR RALEIGH-DURHAM AREA HOSPITALS
Description | Performed onsite calibrations and minor repairs for biomedical departments (three locations) of a major healthcare network.
Calibration Procedures | GIDEP OEM Procedures |
Volume of Equipment Calibrated | 245 items
Items Calibrated |
Manufacturers Supported |
Time to Complete | 7 business days (up to 3 technicians per day)
Turn-Around Time | Onsite work was scheduled in batches This coordination with customer ensured that equipment downtime averaged four hours per item There was a total of 5 items that required special calibration or repair
Standards Met | Calibrations traceable to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) and manufacturer's specifications.
Additional Capabilities | Prior to traveling to customer site, the inventory of customer equipment was not up-to-date. We took inventory of equipment while onsite and added all active equipment to our gage management system (Gage InSite) at that time. Now all customer equipment is organized (using customer assigned ID numbers) with associated calibration records and calibration schedules in our searchable and reportable Gage InSite software system. Certificates of calibration provided in paperless/searchable PDF format as requested by customer (paper copies can be provided upon request). Coordinated purchase order needs of customer- requested one purchase order per location. |
